THE BUSINESS
Fukushima Fish is an NFT project aimed to establish what NFTs were supposed to be - to give their holders full IP rights to the Fukushim Fish art assets. Their aim was to lead a new trend and set a new standard in the NFT community space that was full of projects that didn't give IP rights to their holders.
THE PROBLEM
While having a good mission, we recognized that 'Fukushima' was a sensitive topic as the earthquake in Japan happened not too long ago. Also, being a non-native japanese team called for extra attention to the nuances of the end design result to be culturally appropriate.
THE SOLUTION
As lore is important ot the NFT niche community, we decided to focus on a storyteller approach to draw in the curiosity of the viewer to the world of Fukushima Fish.
We created custom assets with combined efforts of AI x Digital Painitng x our own vector work to bring things to life. We also took extra care so that the design would not clash with the NFT artwork. We had constant communication with the NFT artist to make sure he was happy with the created art assets.
But, to make sure weren't stepping on toes, we collaborated with a local Japanes Tea Master who is in partnership with the project. Revisions and changes were taken according to his advice until we came with the end design that satisfied the lore and the culture appropriateness.
Once all the page designs are done inside figma, we create a prototype before handing off designs to the front-end developer to communicate how the design and features would function when live.
